Dewey McWhirter, MD

Sleep Medicine has been Dr. McWhirter's passion for decades. He became interested in sleep medicine while dealing with his own sleep problems in high school and college. He earned degrees in English, Biochemistry, and Chemistry from Bowdoin College and the College of Charleston. He focused on sleep medicine in medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and during his residency in Neurology at Emory University. During a Sleep Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, he trained under some of the world's leading experts in the field of sleep medicine. Dr. McWhirter is board certified in Sleep Medicine. He has been treating patients with sleep disorders in east Tennessee since 2007. He is interested in all areas of sleep medicine but he has a special interest in narcolepsy and delayed sleep phase syndrome. Dr. Dewey McWhirter is board certified in neurology & sleep medicine by the American Board of Psychology and Neurology.

Joseph Carr, FNP-C

Joseph Carr, FNP-C, received his bachelor's degree in nursing from the East Tennessee State University in Johnson City and then continued his education at the Tennessee Technological University by completing his Masters of Science in Nursing in 2022.

Joe’s past involvement with primary care, pediatrics and veterinary care enables him to care for patients with sleep disorders with well-rounded knowledge and experience.

Joe cares for his patients with empathy and understanding. We are proud and excited to have him join our team!

Caleigh Simon, NP

Caleigh graduated from nursing school in 2012 with a passion for helping others. She was very motivated to continue her education and graduated as a Nurse Practitioner from Lincoln Memorial University in 2014. While in school, she worked as a Nurse at Tennova in Gastrointestinal disease, Primary Care, and Pulmonary. After graduating and becoming a certified nurse practitioner, she worked in a gastrointestinal office along with an acute/walk-in Clinic. Caleigh is excited to be a part of Tranquility Sleep Specialists to help the community to improve their quality of life and help people sleep well.
