Dewey McWhirter, MD

Sleep Medicine has been Dr. McWhirter's passion for decades. He became interested in sleep medicine while dealing with his own sleep problems in high school and college. He earned degrees in English, Biochemistry, and Chemistry from Bowdoin College and the College of Charleston. He focused on sleep medicine in medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and during his residency in Neurology at Emory University. During a Sleep Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, he trained under some of the world's leading experts in the field of sleep medicine. Dr. McWhirter is board certified in Sleep Medicine. He has been treating patients with sleep disorders in east Tennessee since 2007. He is interested in all areas of sleep medicine but he has a special interest in narcolepsy and delayed sleep phase syndrome. Dr. Dewey McWhirter is board certified in neurology & sleep medicine by the American Board of Psychology and Neurology.

Valerie Inman, MSN FNP-C

Valerie was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. She completed her bachelor's degree in May of 2015 at The University of TN and received her master's degree of nursing with FNP concentration in May of 2023 at Lincoln Memorial University.

Prior to joining TSS, Valerie served in the United States Navy as a Registered Nurse. Her vast experience in many specialties areas has enabled her to quickly learn and implement diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.

Valerie is an avid TN Football fan and is a VOL for life!  She has two dogs, Rocky and Titan and a cat, Gizmo.  She enjoys hiking with her family and reading.  She is happily married and has one son and a daughter on the way.

Jenna Peters, MPA, FNP-C

Jenna Peters, FNP-C, is a dedicated advocate for advancing patient well-being, bringing a wealth of expertise to the healthcare field. Holding a Master of Public Administration from Barry University and a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified (FNP-C) from Walden University, Jenna's commitment to excellence is reflected in her graduation with honors.

Jenna is committed to providing individualized patient care to with compassion and understanding. Her proficiency extends to seamless knowledge in family medicine as she takes an integrated approach to sleep medicine.
